A Dynamic Visegrád for Europe

July, 12th 2018 – Slovakia will chair the Visegrád Group for the coming year. At a ceremonial handover in the EU Info Centre, the Hungarian Ambassador to Montenegro, Krisztián Pósa, handed over the figurative baton of the presidency to his Slovak counterpart, Roman Hloben.

The European Film Days 2018

July, 5th 2018 – The European Film Days 2018 were opened in Cineplexx Cinemas with Zivko Nikolic’s “The Beauty of Vice”. The audience showed great interest and the filled to capacity film theatre enjoyed one of the most important films of Montenegrin cinematography. During the whole summer, audience from ten Montenegrin municipalities will have opportunity to see some of the newest and most interesting European films.

Montenegrin university and high school students enjoyed themselves in September in Brussels

The top experts in relations between the EU and Montenegro among Montenegrin university students, 17 of them and two high school students that had won a competition for the best photograph and video on the subject of the EU, and two representatives of the Montenegrin Association of Political Science Students (MAPSS) spent five days in Brussels as part of a trip organised by the EU Delegation to Montenegro. The competition for students called “September in Brussels” was organised by the EU Delegation to Montenegro, the EU Info Centre and the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of the University of Montenegro.

The EUIC held a debate on Montenegrin film today as part of the Days of European Film festival

The EU Info Centre held a panel discussion on the Montenegrin film today with the participation of five younger-generation Montenegrin directors. The conclusion of the panel was that the lack of institutional infrastructure and also of clear social criteria are hindering the development of Montenegrin cinema and its better integration into the European framework.

The pupils of Bozidar Bukovic Podgoricanin Primary School from Podgorica were guests of the EU Info Centre. They enjoyed in the projection of the children’s film “The Secret Society of Souptown “.

The audience in Podgorica had the opportunity to see five films of Italian, Swedish, Lithuanian, Dutch, French and Romanian production in the “Budo Tomovic” Cultural Information Centre.

 

“Days of European Film” festival opened

The “Days of European Film” festival kicked off in Montenegro with the projection of “When We Leave”, a film of Turkish and German coproduction, in the “Budo Tomovic” Cultural Information Centre. With the showing this film in Podgorica, a touring caravan of European film has started, which will last until 28 September, during which audiences in six different cities across Montenegro will have the opportunity to see new European film productions. The festival is being organised by the EU Delegation in Montenegro, with the support of the EU Info Centre, in cooperation with the embassies of EU member states.

Schoolchildren’s visit to Lipska Cave and Lovcen Adventure Park (My Europe, 1st prize)

The pupils of Stampar Makarije Primary School from Podgorica visited Lipska Cave and Lovcen Adventure Park. The trip was awarded as the first prize in the art competition “My Europe”, organised within the celebration of Europe Day 2016.

 

Europe Day Celebration in Montenegro

The ninth of May 2016 was marked in Podgorica by a concert with regional music star Kiki Lesendric and the group Piloti, held on Podgorica’s main square, the Fair of EU Member State Embassies, “Games Without Frontiers” for primary school pupils, the “My Europe” exhibition and recitals by kindergartens and primary schools involving more than 400 children. The celebration ended with a reception at the Petrovic Castle in Podgorica.

 

Laying of the foundation stone for apartments in Konik camp

With the support of EU funds, construction of apartments which will provide durable housing for 120 displaced and internally displaced families from Konik camp began in March. The construction of these housing units is financed through the Regional Housing Programme (RHP) with funding amounting to €5 million.
