About the project

Montenegro and Albania share common water resources which are very significant for sustainable development, environmental protection, economy, tourism and culture of both countries. Cross-border cooperation is essential when it comes to their protection, especially in the Skadar Lake area.

This project will identify pollution hot spots in Skadar Lake and provide an assessment of the chemicals present in the water ecosystem. It aims to provide support to shared and coordinated hazardous chemical substances research in Skadar Lake cross border area; and conduction of joint measures from both sides of the border.

It is expected that this project will strengthen professional and technical capacities of partners’ institutions and enhance their mutual cooperation. Also, it will raise public awareness on chemical pollution in Skadar Lake and the importance of addressing and resolving this issue.
