Resource Center for Civil Society Organizations in Montenegro

About the project

Strong and empowered civil society organizations (CSOs) are key to brining more sustainable society. This project aims to support empowered CSOs to actively contribute to development of participatory democracy in Montenegro.

Its specific objective is to improve capacities of CSOs to be effective and accountable independent actors and to contribute to environment that is conducive to civil society. Therefore, the Resource Center for civil society organizations in Montenegro offers a range of capacity building programmes, trainings, meetings, public gatherings, conferences and networking events to all CSOs all around the country.

The Resource Center is a “home of activism”. It represents a service center for daily support to civil society organizations, but also to individual activists in their work. It provides help-desk services; legal and financial advices; as well as support in the development and submission of civic initiatives. In parallel with that, the Resource Center continuously works on legal and other changes, which enable the smooth operation of CSOs; and it also intensively advocates the implementation of these solutions.

The Resource Center is a consortium of 4 local resource centers, located in Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Ulcinj and Herceg Novi; and one national, located in Podgorica. It is expected that the quality of services provided by local resource centers will be improved through this project. Also, through the implementation of project activities, the capacities of CSOs and CSO networks for organizational development, long-term planning, sustainability, efficiency and participation in decision-making will be increased; and the environment in which CSOs operate will be improved.
