Medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) are globally treasured sources of herbal products. In many countries they are disappearing at a high speed and therefore, it is important they are managed in a sustainable way.
This project is aimed at offering know-how and instruments to the local stakeholders to ensure a more efficient and nature-friendly MAPs management in targeted areas of Municipalities Plav (Montenegro) and Tropoja (Albania).
More precisely, project activities will strengthen capacities of public institutions in both municipalities for a better monitoring of MAPs situation in the area. The action will also raise awareness and knowledge of the local population, especially young people, to manage medicinal and aromatic plants in a sustainable way, which will put a different perspective on self-employment and contribute to the environmental protection and biodiversity conservation in the cross-border area.
