Negotiation Chapters

Montenegro is a candidate country for membership of the EU. The accession negotiations with Montenegro were opened in June 2012. Negotiations relate to the conditions under which the country will be admitted to the EU and focus on the adoption and implementation of the EU’s body of law (the acquis). The acquis is divided into chapters (presently 35), each covering a specific policy area. To prepare for the obligations of EU membership, each candidate country must close the negotiations on all chapters.
