CARES – Cross-border Actions in the REproductive Health Sector

About the project

Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system. To maintain one’s reproductive health, people need access to accurate information and quality health services. Unfortunately, breast and cervical cancers are among major causes of suffering and death of women throughout the world, including Montenegro and Kosovo.

Therefore, this project was aimed at raising awareness on the importance of protecting reproductive health, and improving access to and quality of reproductive health services in the targeted area, especially for socially vulnerable groups.

During its implementation period, the awareness raising campaign on the importance of prevention in protecting reproductive health, with the emphasis on prevention of breast and cervical cancers was conducted. Preventive gynecological and breast examinations for women from the targeted area were organised and new medical equipment (ultrasound machines, probes, medical instruments, other equipment and supplies) was delivered to the health centres in targeted municipalities. In that way, the project helped strengthen the capacity of health centres and the quality of reproductive health services, as well as cross-border cooperation in the improvement of reproductive health.
